Class 2
Welcome!
Currently, we are made up of 16 ambitious children in Year 3, 4, 5 and 6. Miss White and Mrs Guest are our current Class Teachers. During the morning, LKS2 and UKS2 are split into two groups to focus on reading, writing and mathematics. This means the class sizes are small and teachers have a generous amount of time to dedicate to giving the children the instruction and feedback that will help them move on in their learning.
Feel free to catch us on the door, email via the school office or arrange a telephone call, if you have any questions. We are always more than happy to help!
Learning this term
Important Information
Reading
We are passionate about developing life-long readers. We will ensure that all KS2 children will have weekly access to our school library, where they can swap their reading books as well as having a banded book to read at home. In school, your child will be read with at least once a week by an adult. Please ensure that your child is reading little but often at home, as well as in school. We encourage you (or your child) to sign their Reading Records to indicate that they have read at home, either with an adult or independently. Please aim to sign your Reading Record at least X3 weekly. Reading books and records need to be brought to school daily.
Spellings/Homework
Spelling is taught through the Spelling Shed scheme and children use the app or online platform to practise every week for homework. Children are set 5 games per week on the app. Alternatively, they can practise their weekly spellings on the worksheets sent home. Phonics are also revised in Year 3 and when children require a recap! Each Monday, your child will be tested on their spellings and they will be given their new spellings/homework for the following week. Please ensure that any paper copies are brought back into school for your child's class teacher to mark. See below for the spelling hand-out and test dates.
This term we are introducing Learning by Question for children in KS2. This will be set weekly by Miss White and Mrs Guest. The home work is designed to consolidate children's learning outside of the class room and will always link to topic which is being taught at the time. Children can access LBQ using their login and passwords provided by school.
Finally, all children are encouraged to practise their timetables weekly. This can be through TTRS or hit the button. Each child has been provided with a TTRS login, however if your child prefers to do this on paper that is perfect as well.
P.E.
Our PE day is Friday. Children should come to school wearing their P.E. kit.
Children in year 3 and 4 will start swimming week commencing 01/09/25. This will take place every Wednesday.
